Subtitling has specific technical constraints that do not apply to other translation types. Subtitles have to fit on screen within the time available. A line of Italian dialogue that runs for four seconds may translate to an English equivalent that cannot be read in four seconds. The translator has to find a version that is accurate, natural, and readable within the time constraint.
We work with all standard subtitle formats: SRT, WebVTT, TTML, and ASS. We can receive your video files or work from timecoded transcripts. The output is the subtitle file in whatever format your platform requires, with timing adjusted and checked for reading speed. We also deliver burned-in subtitle versions for social media use.
Dubbing script work is different from subtitling. The translated dialogue has to match the lip movement of the original speaker, which adds a constraint that subtitling does not have. We produce dubbing scripts for corporate and institutional clients. Feature film dubbing is handled on a project-by-project basis depending on complexity.
E-learning localisation covers both the on-screen text and the audio script. If the course includes narration, we produce the translated script for re-recording. We also handle UI strings, quiz text, and any interactive elements within the e-learning platform. We work with Articulate, Adobe Captivate and SCORM-packaged content.
